What does the speed limit sign mean in Turkey?

In short: The speed limit sign means you must not drive faster than the number shown, in km/h, from this point. It is a white circle with a red border and the number inside.

What should you do when you see this sign?

• Do not exceed the number; drive slower if the weather, road or traffic is bad.
• If the general limit for your vehicle is lower, keep to that lower limit.
• The limit applies until an end of speed limit or end of all restrictions sign.

Where and why is it used?

Red-bordered white circle Ban or limit a manoeuvre. The rule starts where the sign stands. "No entry for …" signs without a red diagonal line still ban entry.
