What does the no U-turn sign mean in Turkey?
Last updated: 28 October 2026 · Sign code: TT-26c · Prohibitory and restrictive signs

In short: The no U-turn sign means you may not turn your vehicle around to go back the way you came. It is a red-bordered white circle with a black U-shaped arrow crossed by a red line.
What should you do when you see this sign?
- Do not make a U-turn here.
- If you need to go back, use a roundabout or a junction where turning is allowed.
Where and why is it used?
Even without a sign, turning around where visibility is poor, near junctions or where it puts traffic at risk is dangerous. A U-turn ban does not ban left turns; you may turn left unless there is a no left turn sign.
Red-bordered white circle Ban or limit a manoeuvre. The rule starts where the sign stands. "No entry for …" signs without a red diagonal line still ban entry.
