What does the no entry sign mean in Turkey?

In short: The no entry sign means no vehicle may enter the road from this direction. It is a red circle with a horizontal white bar. You usually see it at the exit end of a one-way street.

What should you do when you see this sign?

• Do not enter from this direction; choose another route.
• Entering here would mean driving the wrong way down a one-way street.
• If you missed your turn, do not reverse back; turn at the next suitable place.

Where and why is it used?

The sign only bans entry from the direction where it stands; entering from the other end, with the flow of traffic, is allowed. That is why the other end of the road usually has a one-way road sign.

Red-bordered white circle Ban or limit a manoeuvre. The rule starts where the sign stands. "No entry for …" signs without a red diagonal line still ban entry.
