What does the no parking sign mean in Turkey?
Last updated: 28 October 2026 · Sign code: P-1 · Stopping and parking signs
In short: The no parking sign means you may not park on that side of the road, but you may stop briefly to let passengers in or out or to load. It is a blue circle with a red border and one red diagonal line.
What should you do when you see this sign?
- Do not leave your car here.
- You may stop briefly to pick up or drop off passengers; that counts as stopping, not parking.
- If a plate shows times or a distance, the ban applies to those times and that distance.
Where and why is it used?
In Turkish traffic law, stopping means halting briefly to let passengers in or out or to load or unload. Waiting for any other reason counts as parking. The sign covers only the side of the road where it stands.
