Motorcycle licence in Turkey 2026: A1, A2 and A classes, ages and fees
Updated 2 November 2026 · 5 min read
To ride a motorcycle in Turkey you need an M, A1, A2 or A class licence. You can get A1 at 16 and A2 at 18. For the unlimited A class you need 2 years with an A2 licence, or you can apply directly once you are 24. A B (car) licence does not cover motorcycles; with B you may only ride a moped (M class).
A1, A2 and A: what is the difference?
| Class | What you can ride | Minimum age |
|---|---|---|
| M | Mopeds (two, three or four wheels) | 16 |
| A1 | Motorcycles up to 125 cc and 11 kW; three-wheelers up to 15 kW | 16 |
| A2 | Motorcycles up to 35 kW; three-wheelers up to 15 kW | 18 |
| A | Any motorcycle; three-wheelers over 15 kW | 20 (with 2 years of A2) or 24 |
A1 and A2 also have a power-to-weight limit (0.1 and 0.2). The power figure on the vehicle registration tells you which class a bike falls into.
Can you ride a motorcycle with a B (car) licence in Turkey?
