Driving licence health report in Turkey: where to get it and how long it is valid

Updated 2 November 2026 · 4 min read

Every Turkish driving licence application needs a driver's health report (sürücü olur sağlık raporu). It can be issued by family health centres, state and university hospitals, and licensed private health facilities, but not by private doctors' practices. The report is valid for 5 or 10 years depending on the licence class.

Who can issue the health report?

The check is done by a doctor or specialist working at:

  • a family health centre (aile sağlığı merkezi)
  • a Ministry of Health hospital
  • a university hospital
  • a private health facility licensed by the Ministry (private practices excluded)

The report must carry the doctor's stamp and signature.

What does the doctor check?

You first fill in a written statement about your general health. The doctor then checks, among other things:

  • eyesight, field of vision and depth perception
  • hearing and balance
  • heart conditions, diabetes and epilepsy
  • sleep disorders and limits in muscle or joint movement
  • mental health and alcohol or drug dependence

If there is no obstacle, you get the report. If something needs a closer look, you are referred to a specialist, and both reports are valid together.

Is colour blindness a problem?

No. The regulation states that colour-blind people can become drivers without any condition. People with night blindness may drive only in daytime (from one hour after sunrise to one hour before sunset).
